La ristrutturazione del “Museo dei Cappuccini” di Milano nasce dalla necessità di ampliare gli spazi del museo per esporre una nuova collezione d’arte, una donazione di dipinti italiani del XX secolo. Il progetto architettonico riflette la consapevolezza che il museo, situato in un convento, dovesse mantenere la propria sobrietà e semplicità, eliminando tutto ciò che potesse apparire superfluo o eccessivo, per mettere in risalto al meglio le opere d’arte del museo. L’allestimento espositivo e i materiali scelti rispondono a tali criteri, essendo combinati in modo sofisticato e progettati specificamente con tecnologie personalizzate per valorizzare i vari pezzi d’arte in mostra. Il nuovo design espositivo ha offerto l’opportunità di ripensare l’intero layout, i percorsi, l’illuminazione e i sistemi tecnologici, dando al museo in generale un rinnovamento in continuità con la sua tradizione.
The refurbishment of the “Museo dei Cappuccini” in Milan comes from the need to expand the museum’s spaces, in order to exhibit a new art collection, a donation of 20th-Century Italian paintings. The architectural design reflects the awareness that the museum, located in a Convent, had to maintain its sobriety and simplicity, eliminating everything that could appear as unnecessary or excessive, and in order to best emphasize the Museum’s artworks. The exhibition layout and the chosen materials meet such criteria, as they are sophisticatedly combined and specifically designed with custom technologies to enhance the different art pieces of the exhibition. The new exhibition design gave the opportunity to rethink the entire layout, its paths, the lighting and technological systems, and the museum in general, a renewal in continuity with its tradition.
