Questo breve articolo cerca di rappresentare una sorta di laboratorio per la buona pratica architettonica e la pianificazione pastorale positiva necessarie per dare nuova forma alle Cattedrali e, più specificamente, per adattarle in accordo con la Liturgia del II Concilio Vaticano e con un modo necessariamente nuovo di presenza della Chiesa nelle città contemporanee. Solo un rapporto aperto e stratificato con l’intero edificio, la sua storia e il suo assetto; con l’azione liturgica, sempre legata a Cristo, presente in mezzo alla congregazione e ai poli liturgici; e, infine, con l’appartenenza attiva della chiesa e la sua interazione regolare con la società civile, rende possibile cercare, caso per caso, un compromesso soddisfacente.
This brief article attempts to represent a kind of laboratory for the good architectural practice and positive pastoral planning required in giving new form to Cathedrals and, more specifically, in adapting them in accord with the II Vatican Council Liturgy and with a necessarily new mode of the presence of the Church in contemporary cities. Only an open and stratified relationship with the entire building, its history and layout; with the liturgical action, always linked in Christ, present in the midst of the congregation and at the liturgical poles; and, finally, with the church’s active belonging in and regularly dealing with civil society, makes it possible to seek, case by case, a satisfactory compromise.
