Venerdì 24 maggio 2019, Sua Santità Papa Francesco ha accolto l’AMEI nella Sala Clementina dei Palazzi Vaticani. Circa seicento delegati dell’AMEI hanno avuto l’opportunità di partecipare a questo toccante incontro. Dopo le parole del Presidente Domenica Primerano, condivise a nome dell’Associazione, il Santo Padre ha consegnato il proprio discorso indirizzato al Presidente dell’AMEI e ha salutato tutti i presenti. Qui presentiamo le versioni integrali di entrambi i discorsi. “I musei in cui operate rappresentano il volto della Chiesa, la sua fecondità artistica e artigianale, la sua vocazione a comunicare un messaggio che è Buona Notizia – un messaggio non per pochi eletti, ma per tutti. Tutti hanno il diritto a una cultura bella! Soprattutto i più poveri e gli ultimi, che devono goderne come un dono di Dio. I vostri musei sono luoghi ecclesiali, e partecipate alla cura pastorale delle vostre comunità presentando la bellezza dei processi creativi umani destinati a esprimere la Gloria di Dio” (estratto del discorso di Sua Santità Papa Francesco).
On Friday, May 24, 2019, His Holiness Pope Francis welcomed AMEI in the Clementine Hall of the Vatican Palaces. About six hundred delegates of AMEI had the chance to take part in this touching meeting. Following the words of President Domenica Primerano shared on behalf of the Association, the Holy Father handed over his own speech addressed to the President of AMEI and greeted all those present. Here we present full versions of both speeches. “The museums in which you operate represent the face of the Church, its artistic and artisan fruitfulness, its vocation to communicate a message that is Good News – a message not for a select few, but for everyone. Everyone has the right to beautiful culture! Especially the poorest and the last, who must enjoy it as a gift from God. Your museums are ecclesial places, and you participate in the pastoral care of your communities by presenting the beauty of human creative processes intended to express the Glory of God” (extract of His Holiness Pope Francis’s speech).
